School Partnerships: Northeastern Northeastern Jr. Sr. HS

When former Northeastern Jr./Sr. High School Site Coordinator Jill Adams attended a basketball game recently, “Karleigh,” a former student walked by once...and then again...and then again.  “Are you Mrs. Adams?” Karleigh finally asked.  “I want to thank you for giving me a chance at a future.”  Jill well remembered the conversations she’d had with Karleigh three years earlier about the fights she was always getting into, about her multiple absences, and about how important it was to get her high school diploma.  Jill was not at school on the day Karleigh transferred to the Find Center and she feared things might not go well for Karleigh.  But Karleigh took Jill’s caring encouragement with her.  She got her diploma and is currently enrolled in the nursing program at IVY Tech.  Her goal, she told Jill is to listen and help people who never get a chance to talk.  Just like Jill had listened to her.
