School Partnerships: Western Wayne Lincoln Middle School

Last year, one of our mentors wanted to work with not one but two students.  Meghan matched her with a painfully shy middle school student.  Their journey to friendship was a rocky one; communication struggled and meetings did not always occur.  With a lot of encouragement, the relationship has blossomed and everyone is moving in a positive direction.  As a coordinator, you see certain qualities in people and when a match is right, it's just right, even though it may take some time and patience! This summer the mentor and student took tennis lessons together; Meghan saw them practicing.  On one occasion she saw the student's mother in a store. The mother immediately told Meghan what a wonderful and giving person this mentor was and how happy her daughter was. Now that this student is a freshman, their journey will not cease to take work and patience, but the friendship that has grown between them will provide much of the support they may need!
