Fixing a bad tooth improves attendance...

Concerned about “Brandon’s” frequent absences, CIS Site Coordinator, Andre Gordon, spoke with Brandon’s mom and learned that Brandon had a bad toothache and the family couldn’t afford to see a dentist. Andre found out which school would be hosting Mobile Dentist and made arrangements for Brandon to be seen. An x-ray revealed Brandon had a bad abscess and needed treatment as soon as possible. She was referred to IU Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, but she didn’t have money for the gas to make the trip.  Andre contacted a local dentist who arranged to examine Brandon later that afternoon and then scheduled an appointment for him over Spring Break so that he wouldn’t miss any more school. The happy ending to the story: Brandon probably won’t lose his tooth and his attendance is improving!
